BEWITCHING Marqueyssac
A strange forest of rounded sculpted box trees looms in dark shadows above the Dordogne valley. A sort of labyrinthine dream where endless paths intersect. The garden slumbers under a blanket of mist rising from the bed of the river. Slowly the sun rises, awakening the sleeping forms. Clinging to a cliff, the rocky spur of Marqueyssac juts out into the plain. In the distance is the fortress of Beynac. The spectacle is total and the walk vertiginous. Past the extraordinary bastion and its thousands of box trees carved into organic shapes, the paths meander along the steep relief: 15 hectares of parkland, 130 meters of sheer drop, 6 kilometers of paths… here, the surprises follow one another: Italian terraces, bedroom…
