This remains one of the great winter events in the region of Toulouse. After having put down its suitcases in Gaillac (Tarn) then in Blagnac (Haute-Garonne), the Lantern Festival headed for Montauban (Tarn and Garonne), for his 5e editing. After two months of activity, the event, which lights up every evening since 1uh December 2022 the 4.7 hectares of Cour Foucault of the City of Ingres, is coming to an end.
A magical ride
Showcase of traditional Chinese culture, the “largest lantern park in Europe” will indeed close its doors Sunday, February 5, 2023. If for the time being, the attendance figures are jealously guarded by the organizers, there is therefore a big week left for latecomers to go and discover this always magical spectacle and let themselves be embarked on a stroll on the Banks of the Yangtze. This year, it’s an opportunity to admire the Crane Tower, the spectacular all-porcelain tripod dragon, or the Qilin, half-dragon half-lion lucky charms…
Practical information to enjoy the festival
let’s remember that four free car parks are reserved for the general public, including two with free shuttles going to Cours Foucault every 15 minutes, and running every day from 5 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
If you are already in the heart of the town of Montauban, a small train that runs from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on a circuit will take you to Cours Foucault. Namely that two entrances allow you to enter the park.
To obtain the precious sesame and thus join the Cours Foucault, two options are available to the visitor: a undated ticket, valid for the chosen day and only once, between 1uh December and February 5; and one dated ticket. This second alternative, therefore more interesting at the end of the festival, also allows you to benefit from a reduced rate. The different tickets are available by clicking here.
As it concerns the prices chargedthe standard ticket price is 18 euros (16 euros for a dated ticket). But there are many reductions : 15 euros (or 14 for a dated ticket) for RSA beneficiaries, people with reduced mobility (PRM), residents of Grand Montauban, or groups of 20 to 49 people; 14 euros (12 euros for a dated ticket) for students and teenagers aged 11 to 17. Please note that access is free for people with reduced mobility.
Finally, the entrance is free for children under 11. Good to know for families planning to take a trip to Montauban!
