/PHOTOGRAPHS/ It traditionally belongs to the largest junior squash tournaments in Europe. And it confirmed its quality this year as well. After all, a total of 293 players from 30 countries of the world came to Prague for the Czech Junior Open, for example also from Australia, Colombia or the USA. The Czech players did not lose when they won one gold and three bronze medals. “We confirmed that we know how to organize these events and the results were definitely not bad,” said Tomáš Forter, general secretary of the Czech Squash Association and tournament director. An important international sports event took place in three Prague squash centers – Hector, SB Center and Squash Point.

Johana Jedličková managed the most of the domestic players, who dominated the category of girls under 13 years of age. In the final, she defeated Bulgaria’s Ema Božilová after a battle in five sets. Bronze medals will be won by Marie Zelenková from the GU11 category, Karolína Šrámková from the GU19 category and Vojtěch Martinovský from the BU17 category.
Poles scored the most, mastering four categories. It is a country that is going up a lot in terms of squash,” added Fořter. “Further triumphs are won by players from traditionally strong countries, such as France or the USA, as well as from new countries, such as Bulgaria or Austria, where although squash has a greater tradition than here, they have not been very successful in recent years,” described Fořter from squash association.
In addition, the organizers helped Ukrainian players – 17 of them could start at the Czech Junior Open completely free of charge.
