Croatian HEP invests 389,000 euros in two solar power plants
January 27 (SeeNews) – Croatia’s state electricity utility (HEP) announced on Friday that it has invested a total of 389,000 euros ($423,000) in the construction of two integrated photovoltaic solar power plants on the roof of its combined heat and power plant. (CHP) plants in Sisak and Osijek.
One of them, with a capacity of 215 kW, has started production at the Sisak Thermal Power Plant, while the other, with a capacity of 200 kW, is being prepared for trial production at the Osijek Thermal Power Plant, HEP announced.
The State Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency financed the investment with 40 percent. The two solar power plants will allow HEP to reduce costs for using its own energy at cogeneration sites.
HEP currently has 63 integrated solar power plants with a total power of 2.7 MW, and by the end of 2025, the total number of photovoltaic solar installations in HEP facilities will exceed 200.
“Before the summer, we will have 10 large operational offline solar power plants, and by 2030 we plan to have 700 MW of solar and wind power plants. We are looking to the future, and in preparation and development we have about 60 wind power plants with a total power of about 1,400 MW and an estimated investment value of about 1.5 billion euros,” said the president of the HEP Management Board, Frane Barbarić, in a press release. .
“We are implementing a project of reconstruction and revitalization of our hydroelectric power plants worth 570 million euros, we are upgrading thermal power plants, and within our Dubrava hydroelectric power plant we are building the largest Croatian solar power plant,” said Robert Krklec, head of HEP’s production unit.
