Brussels court does allow nude photos by drug criminal Flor Bressers
Flor Bressers, a convicted drug criminal, may be searched naked by the police. De Lommelaar is still the subject of various ongoing judicial investigations in Antwerp, West Flanders and East Flanders.
That the searches may continue is apparent from a decision of the Dutch-speaking court of first instance of Brussels. This is reported by VRT News and the news is confirmed by the press magistrate of the court.
In our country he remains in prison under a strong security regime. When transferred to the council chamber, he is therefore subjected to naked searches, just like the suspects in the terror trial. Bressers was arrested in Switzerland in February and delivered to our country in October. The thirty-year-old was already convicted of a serious hostage-taking in the drug environment. For a while, Bressers were on the Most Wanted website.
Blindfolded
Bressers had gone to court to put an end to that mutual nudity, but the judge in Brussels has ruled against him. Only he may no longer be blindfolded at the naked searches.
“The contamination of the body without a blindfold was not apparently unreasonable by the judge,” the press judge said. The police services should not justify their choice for those mistakes, it is further communicated. “It has not been proven before the judge in summary proceedings that the error would be arbitrary, would have a provoking character and would not be done with respect for his dignity.”
Bressers can still appeal the court’s decision.
