Football Monaco – Under threat, Monaco can disappear from the screens
Due to Atalanta Bergamo’s shirt sponsor Plus500, a financial trading platform, broadcaster beIN Sports is no longer allowed to broadcast Dea matches. This measure could well affect Ligue 1, and more specifically AS Monaco, which has a similar partner.
The Serie A match between Juventus Turin and Atalanta Bergamo (3-3) put on a great show last Sunday. Unfortunately for fans of the Italian championship, the game was not broadcast in France. The usual broadcaster beIN Sports had announced the meeting in its programming. But the chain had to abstain following a decision of the Directorate General for Competition, Consumption and the Repression of Fraud (DGCCRF).
ASM like Atalanta?
In fact, the broadcasting of Atalanta Bergamo matches has been banned because of the Dea sponsor, Plus500. We are talking about a platform for risky financial transactions and to ask that French customers are not covered if the company has become bankrupt. In the event of unauthorized distribution, beIN Sports is therefore liable to a fine of up to 100,000 euros per violation found. The bill could have risen to 2 million euros if the channel had decided to broadcast all Atalanta Bergamo matches until the end of the season, regardless of the decision rendered.

It remains to be seen whether this case, which is currently unique in France, will have repercussions on Ligue 1. Because in our championship, AS Monaco, whose jersey has displayed the eToro logo since the summer of 2021, has a sponsor who also offers him risky investments. For the moment, L’Equipe ensures that the club of the Principality as well as the broadcasters Prime Video and Canal+ have not been alerted to this subject. Given the length of the proceedings, ASM matches should not be threatened for years.
