elected environmentalists demand a report on the Crit’Air 3 ban
The environmental opposition of Toulouse requests the one-year delay of the ban on Crit’Air 3 vehicles in the ZFE of the metropolis, to January 1, 2025.
The date of January 1, 2024 will normally coincide with reinforcement of the low-emissions zone of Toulouse Métropole. Classified vehicles Crit’Air 3 will no longer have the right to circular, punishable by fine. A ban that will affect a number of cars and motorbikes and that worries… including opposition ecologists!
The latter indeed ask for the one-year report of this stage, i.e. on January 1, 2025, drawing inspiration from the calendar in place in Lyon. The goal is to avoid a “Punitive ZFE”, according to the proposals of Thomas Karmann, elected ecologist inviting himself on the subject during a press briefing. He opposes a “ZFE of solutions”according to statements reported by The Midi Dispatch.
For this, the deadline for a need to set up appointments with a mobility advisor. A temporary derogation for low income, an effort on prices from Tisséo (public transport network in Toulouse Métropole) and various aids for those who abandon the car are mentioned. An emergency transport plan is also at the center of this project.
Crit’Air 3 banned from January 2024
The Crit’Air 3 ban on January 1, 2024 will concern cars gasoline first put into service before 2006 and diesels in this case before 2011. Two-wheelers Euro 2 (put into service before July 1, 2004) will also be affected.
The vehicles Crit’Air 4, 5 and beyond are already banned since January 1, 2023 of this low-emissions zone in Toulouse Métropole. UN pass allowing you to travel 52 days a year in this zone set up on March 1, 2022 is however available, for the owners of the banned vehicles.
Remember that Low Emission Zones have been set up in agglomerations of more than 150,000 inhabitants. What will concern 45 areas in France by 2025. Their aim is to limit traffic to vehicles considered to be the most polluting, in order to improve air quality.
