Soon the green light for a new cultural center?
politics
The new cultural center in the city of Salzburg on the Hannak grounds in Gnigl could soon become a reality. There is a new and positive official report on this. Operators say it only has to find its way through political committees and the municipal council. It’s about rehearsal rooms for music, theater and dance of the independent scenes.
Some saw the project in Salzburg-Gnigl only as an emergency solution after the original project in the Rauchmühle failed. The Deputy Mayor Bernhard Auinger (SPÖ), who is responsible for the department, is confident that the new rehearsal rooms and the material and props store on the Hannak grounds will come very close to the original idea.
Rent and conversion will be retained
Conversion costs and rent amount to 13,472 euros per month. The city will provide a construction cost subsidy totaling 700,000 euros. There are also 1.2 million euros for special equipment such as sound, lighting technology and more. Auinger says that the owner was very fair in the negotiations: “With the city, he has a free and reliable tenant who also transfers the rent on time. Buying would always be better at the end of the day. But it’s the solution that got a political majority.”
Politicians for start from early 2024
The deputy mayor assumes that there will no longer be any political resistance from other groups. And that from the beginning of 2024 the free theater and dance scenes can use the new rehearsal rooms. Auinger promises that the allocation and organization of the rooms would be transparent and fair through his office.
