“Beyond the Borders” travels to Athens
Carrying in luggage on 7the edition, “Beyond the Borders” comes to be introduced to the public of Athens with 26 nationwide and world/international premieres, 10 awards, three juries and three screening stages and with the aim of promoting cinematographic art and a culture beyond from every border, from 27 to 29 January 2023 at the War Museum of Athens.
The three days of screenings and activities of “Beyond the Borders” will include in detail:
On Friday, January 27:
- 19:00, a 12-member ensemble of the ERT Contemporary Music Orchestra will perform live the original music of the composer Giorgos Papachristoudis, for the latest production of IDISME “The Heroic Vourlas of Asia Minor”.
- 7:30 p.m., the Secretary General of Hellenism Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yannis Chrysoulakis, will award the Special “Odysseus” Award to director Vicky Markolefa for her film, “Pneuma Gegenes”
- 19:45, “The Heroic Vourlas of Asia Minor” by Irini Sarioglou (2022, 52′)
- 20:30, “Railway Memories” (Bronze Phoenix micro) by Emilia Buritis (2021, 8′)
- 20:45, “Letters Without Recipient” (produced by IDISME) by Ilias Dimitriou (2012, 40′)
On Saturday, January 28:
- “The Other Half” by Giorgos Moutafi (Best Greek Documentary Award)
- “February 1stSt» by Mo Mo & Leila Macaire (Hellenic premiere, Golden Palm micro)
- “I was there too and they gave me a plate of lentils…” by Freddy Vianellis (Mediterranean Friendship Award)
- “iRony” by Radheya Jegatheva (Silver Palm micro)
- “Reconstruction of the Occupation” by Jan Sikl (Hellenic premiere, Best Historical Documentary Award).
Sunday, January 29:
- “The Poet’s Wife” by Helke Misselwitz (Best Socio-Political Documentary Award)
- “Native Spirit” by Vickys Markolefas (“Odysseus” Special Award)
- “Village of Women” by Tamara Stepanyan (Hellenic premiere, FIPRECI Award)
- “1st of MaySt» by Luis Cuenca Castro (world premiere, Best Short Documentary Award) .

The screenings will take place in the “Ioannis Kapodistrias” amphitheater of the War Museum of Athens (Vas. Sofias & Rizari 2, Athens) on Friday January 27 from 19:00 and on Saturday from 18:00.
