Saint Omer and Les Pires, filmed in Pas-de-Calais, have six nominations
Saint Omer is named four times and Les Pires twice. Two actresses from two films found themselves competing in the “best female hope” category. The results will be announced on February 24 during the ceremony.
The Pas-de-Calais is in the spotlight of nominations for the Césars! Two films shot in the department were nominated, in all, in six categories.
Unsurprisingly, this is Saint Omer by Alice Diop and The worst by Lise Akoka and Romane Guéret.
Saint Omerfilmed in Pas-de-Calais had already been shortlisted in the category of best international feature film at the Oscars (but was not nominated) and won two prizes at the Venice Film Festival.
This film by Alice Diop is inspired by the trial of a mother in Berck-sur-Mer accused of having killed her 15-month-old daughter by abandoning her on a beach.
He is named four times at the ceremony:
- Cesar for Best First Film
- César for Best Adaptation for Alice Diop, Amrita David and Marie Ndiaye
- César for best female hope for Guslagie Malanda
- César for Best Picture for Claire Mathon

As for Les Pires, winner of the Un certain regard prize at the Cannes Film Festival 2022, he tells of a filming which must take place at the Picasso city, in Boulogne-sur-Mer, where four teenagers with an atypical background are chosen. Critics praised a film that moves away from clichés about working-class neighborhoods and puts forward different profiles.
The film was nominated twice for the Césars: Lise Akoka and Romane Gueret for the César for best first film and Mallory Wanecque in the best female hopeful category.

Other nominated films include The Innocent by Louis Garrel and The Night of 12 who are in the lead with 11 and 10 nominations respectively.
Another regional pride: cuddle by Margot Reumont is nominated in the category of best animated short film. As for The little Nicolasit competes in the category “best animated film”.
Both works were financed by the Region and Pictanovo, “the regional tool for implementing the support policy for audiovisual and cinematographic production” in the Hauts de France.
Chaired by actor Tahar Rahim, the ceremony will be held on February 24 in Paris.
