Prague 10: Pirate representative Zuzana Freitas Lopesová resigns because of the SPD
The elections in Prague 10 were won by the coalition Together for Prague 10, which won 14 mandates. The second coalition of Vlasta and STAN with the support of the People’s Party has ten mandates and the third ANO has nine. Pirates with eight seats and SPD, Trikolora and Independent candidates with four also got into the council. Representatives Jaroslav Štěpánek and his daughter Tereza Hauffenová were elected for ANO, but after the elections they switched to ODS. The coalition Together for Prague 10 (ODS and TOP 09), Vlasty and STAN with the KDU-ČSL thus has 26 votes in the 45-member council.
Political trade?
According to Freitas Lopes of the SPD, in the secret election of the municipal district, the election of the new leadership of the district, so her removal from the housing commission looks like a political deal. “We are not represented in it (the commission) at all. Josef Nerušil (SPD) sits in my place in the committee for sports and leisure activities. Participation in the social committee did not even get on the table” she stated. She added that she will now focus on working at the Prague municipality, where the Pirates are to be part of the negotiated coalition.
Holá will take the vacant seat in the council for the Pirates. She would like to focus on controlling the budget and funding, bringing the work of the office closer to the public, improving official procedures and consulting services in connection with energy prices, family finances and housing.
Cumulation of functions
The spokesman for Prague 10, Marcel Pencák, said for the management of the town hall that Freitas Lopesová acts as deputy minister of labor and social affairs and representative and member of several committees at the municipality. “The real reason for finding her resignation is rather that she is no longer able to hold the position of representative in Prague 10 due to time constraints. The alleged reasons for “dealing” with the SPD are clearly untrue and a political game by the representative, or by the Pirate Party. The ruling coalition in Prague 10 does not rely on the support of the SPD,” he said.
The mayor of Prague 10 Martin Valovič (ODS) added that the composition of committees and commissions is changed by default after the elections, so it is not possible to speak of Fraitas Lopes being “removed” from the commission. “The resignation I received from the representative, the specific reasons for her move. The Pirate Party’s claim does not seem credible in light of this,” he said.
