Drama in Prague! The young man wanted to kill himself. A homeless person saved his life
The quick reaction of two passers-by saved the life of a 16-year-old boy who was about to jump off the footbridge at the main railway station in Prague. At the same time, little was enough and everything could have a tragic end.
Without hesitation, 36-year-old Daniel, a homeless man, decided to save the life of the 16-year-old. He met a friend by chance at the main station on Monday. They hadn’t seen each other for a long time, so they decided to go for a cigarette and talk. But Daniel suddenly noticed a young man standing on the footbridge. The young man seemed about to jump down.
While Daniel ran to help the young man, his friend looked for help in the station hall. No one has been found yet. People were in a hurry either to catch the train, the subway, or to go shopping. Fortunately, a passer-by called the police.
When Daniel reached the young man, he grabbed his hand. But the young man laughed at him and slipped off the footbridge. However, Daniel managed to hold the young man firmly. At that moment, the fear of falling probably appeared in the young man and he started to cooperate with Daniel. When the city police officers arrived at the scene, the sixteen-year-old boy was already safe.
“I slowly walked towards him. I didn’t know what to do. I was scared. I grabbed his hand,” Daniel described the situation to the officers.
“Usually, we show cases where police officers play the main role. But this story is not about the city police at all. The hero is someone completely different,” said Irena Seifertová, spokeswoman for Prague police officers.
