Olympic Park: Children capture woman with sled – 51-year-old suffers contused lungs
Schwabing West – A 51-year-old woman was seriously injured in a sledding accident early Sunday evening. She was taken to the hospital.
The woman was walking in the Olympic Park not far from Ackermannstrasse. According to the fire department, she was hit by a sled at around 5:45 p.m. and torn from her legs. A passer-by called the emergency services.
It was very smooth and slippery at the scene of the accident. Firefighters grabbed the injured woman because she was on a basket stretcher that had been converted into a bob. The helpers then gently let the woman slide down the snow to the foot of the hill using ropes. From there she was taken to a hospital in an ambulance.
Two days after the accident, the Munich police announced how badly the woman was injured in the sled accident. The 51-year-old suffered, among other things, a bruised chest, a rib fracture and a contused lung.
It is now also clear who caused the accident. Police say a 10-year-old boy was riding a sled with his 7-year-old sister. The Munich traffic police are conducting the investigation. It is currently still unclear whether the parents were on site at the time of the accident. Then they could potentially be prosecuted for violating their duty of care.
