Arrested for simulating cell phone theft in Lisbon. wanted to activate insurance
youA woman, aged 27, was arrested by the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the Public Security Police (PSP), through the 2nd Police Division, on 19 January, at 4.30 pm, in the parish of Olivais, in flagrante delicto, for To be suspected of committing the crime of simulating a crime of theft.
The detainee, explains the PSP in a statement to which the News by the Minute had access, “he went to the Olivais Police Station, where he presented himself as having been the victim of the crime of robbery”.
Through the “narrative of the alleged victim”, advancing the authority, “it was possible, due to the experience acquired by the Police who received the citizen’s statements, realize the existence of a series of projections that compete for a simulated scenariofull of factual inconsistencies“.
Faced with the “incoherent scenario of the report provided, and the expected evidence gathered”, the suspicion “he ended up admitting that his narrative was really distorted, since he had lost his cell phone”. The intention would be “to file a complaint for theft, for the purposes of activation of the respective mobile phone insurance“.
The Public Security Police added, in the same note, that “it is important for citizens to be aware that these acts of simulating a crime are especially graceful“, since, “by making false statements, simulating this type of crime, generating a feeling of insecurity in the population“.
