Orchestra and Opéra du Capitole under the same banner
The Opera and the Orchester du Capitole come together within a single entity called “Établissement public du Capitole”, managed by Toulouse Métropole. The prefect of the Occitanie and Haute-Garonne regions also sits on the board of directors.
They become one. L’national opera and theCapitol National Orchestra became, as of January 1, a single public administrative establishment, competent “Capitol Public Establishment“. This means that they now enjoy “separate legal personality and financial autonomy “, explains Toulouse Métropole, which still manages them. However, the two establishments keep their original missions, namely the “production and distribution of lyrical, musical, choreographic shows and symphonic concerts, the development of musical life and regional, national and international outreach, awareness and artistic education of all audiences, training and integration of professionals in the sector…”, lists the community. “The Capitole Public Establishment” also includes the management of the Halle aux Grains.
The regional prefect on the board of directors
“Employer more than 400 permanent employees (artists, technicians and administrative teams), the Capitole Public Establishment will be one of the largest French cultural institutions in the region”, rejoice the elected officials of the Metropolis. As Chairman of its Board of Directors (CA): Francois Grass, Deputy Mayor of Toulouse, Delegate for Culture and Patronage. Six other elected officials from Toulouse Métropole sit on the Board, as well as the State, represented by the prefect of the Occitanie Region and prefect of Haute-Garonne.
Claire Roserot de Melin continue its mission to the general management of the public establishment, with Christophe Ghristi who has been in charge of the artistic direction of the Opéra national du Capitole since 2018 and Tarmo Peltokoski, who has just been appointed musical director of the National Orchestra from 2024″, finish the elected officials.
