This Thursday morning a little before the wishes of the Public Security, the mayor of Monaco, George Marsan, formulated his wishes for the new year to the press. He was delighted that the latter turned out to be plural in his city and hoped that this plurality would continue. The one who has been elected since 1991 also mentioned what has been undertaken with his team during the current mandate while insisting on the projects which will succeed this year. Here are the four points to remember from this ceremony.
More and more nursery places
After the Testimonio II nativity scene, the Honoria Palace. With 50 cradles and a team of 20 people, the Testimonio II crèche welcomed the first babies in January. The structure, eagerly awaited in the district, is reserved for the occupants of the two towers and, more generally, for residents of the Saint-Roman and Larvotto sectors.
The Palais Honoria nursery, meanwhile, should also open its doors in 2023. It will offer 30 cradles. With these two crèches, the town hall should increase its reception capacity by more than 15%, and respond by district to the requests of families.
Major works that are coming to an end
In six months, the living space intended for seniors within the villa Lamartine should be delivered. This completely renovated town house, located at 19 boulevard Princesse-Charlotte, will notably host the “Le Temps de vivre” club. It is also a question of proposing a place of life, culture, animations and leisures while allowing thereafter an intergenerational use. A project of some seven million euros.
That’s not all. Among the sites that will be delivered this year, let us also note the commercial premises at Larvotto and on the port, belonging to the municipality and in the process of being rehabilitated. Finally, the complete rehabilitation of the Espace Saint-Charles is being completed this year.
The swimming pool, equipped with a gym, should open its doors for this summer. Both the public and staff changing rooms (as well as the staff changing rooms at the Monte-Carlo market) are being renovated.
Construction sites at the town hall
There are those that were completed last year and during the mandate, namely the complete refurbishment of the ground floor. “This rehabilitation makes our town hall attractive and pleasant for the public. The wedding hall as well. The gold as well as the wooden ornaments have been renovated respecting the initial lines. »
It is also 850,000 euros that will be invested this year to renovate the municipal council room, where the public is welcomed during the meetings. The carpet, the furniture, the walls will be changed. Above all, the equipment and the computer network replaced to be completely modernized and always more secure. This modernization of the computer will represent the main part of the work and the most expensive.
The twinning with Dolceacqua takes shape
The mayor announced it, the twinning with Dolceacqua will be recorded in November. The city councilor had invited his Italian counterpart, Fulvio Gazzola, for the occasion. The convention will be signed exactly 500 years after the first link was established between the two cities. It is indeed on November 3, 1523, in Monaco in the garden of the Orange trees of the Grimaldi Palace, that Augustin Grimaldi, bishop of Grasse and lord of Monaco, made the ceremony of taking the oath of the Syndics of Dolceacqua, Apricale, Isolabona and Perinaldo, federating the fief.
Since then, the two municipalities have continued to maintain relations. Before the signing of the agreement, many events are to be planned: Monaco will go to the feast of Saint Sebastian in Dolceacqua, and Dolceacqua to the feast of Saint Dévote; in March, common tennis, padel and football competitions are organised; At the end of April, a grouping of Fiat 500s (in honor of the 500 years of history linking the two cities) is being programmed in Monaco and Dolceacqua.
Fair and market success
Record attendance at the Monaco fair and at the Christmas market. The mayor welcomed this record.

He was also keen to point out how quickly, for both events, the hardware was installed and uninstalled.
