Housing, sports, shops: what’s new in Ifs in 2023?

In a speech of wishes focused on solidarity, Thursday January 12, 2023, Michel Patard-Legendre, Mayor of Ifs, near Caen (Calvados), honored humanitarian actions for the benefit of Ukraine, as well as the women and men “first in line” during the Covid-19 health crisis. The mayor then developed some projects for the year 2023.
Works at the autonomous residence and at the town hall
The autonomous residence will be renovated with 17 months of work without moving the residents.
The buildings of the town hall and the communal social action center will benefit from a energy renovation : studies in 2023, works in 2024. Offices will be set up above the CCAS. Opposite, the premises of the library, which will be moved to the Jean-Vilar district, will be allocated to the music school, which is a little cramped.
New sports equipment
In terms of new sports equipment, the skate park will expand in particular by equipping itself with a bowl: a basin-shaped module, with rounded parishes. The work must take place from January to May. At stadiumafter the synthetic pitch in 2022, it will be the turn of the football pitch to receive LED lighting.
At the end of the year, or even in 2024, the tennis ball, “energy-intensive and uncomfortable”, will be damaged by a solid building. Several options are available, from the building alone to the junction of the existing one with cloakroom and club house. In any case, the two courts housed in the bubble will be preserved.
The prison accessible by bike
The mayor also confirmed the start of cutting down trees in the Ifs forestthe delivery of the last phase of the Marie Curie school and the opening of the a prison in October :
A prison without a watchtower, with trees around and accessible by bicycle, which will accommodate 550 inmates and more than 100 officers.
Leclerc Toys in Object’Ifs Sud
On the shopping side, the Object’Ifs Sud zone will host two restaurantsa store Leclerc Toys and the transfer of the Vital Forme room and the A Tout Chat et Chien store, both located behind the shopping centre.
