After being added for over an hour of gameplay, the FC Toulouse finally prevailed against theAC Ajaccio (2-0), this Saturday, January 21, 2023, on behalf of the 16are of final of French Cup. This success allows the Violets to obtain their ticket for the next round of the competition.
Toulouse on alternating current
From the outset, the Ajacciens set the tone, imposing constant pressing on the Toulouse midfield. But it was the Violets who lit the first fuse. A handful of seconds after a poorly negotiated free kick from Fares Chaibi (9e), the Corsican goalkeeper missed his clearance, sending the leather directly into the feet of Zakaria Aboukhlal. But this one, after a sharp tumble, finally missed his face to face.
Despite the fervor of the public, the people of Haut-Garonne had a lot of trouble developing their game. Like the long transversal of Logan Costa bound for Aboukhlal, poorly controlled by the latter, the Violets showed many inaccuracies. A bit timid, the proteges of Philippe Montanier got a first fright. Lonely at the entrance to the Toulouse surface, the ACA midfielder, Riad Nouri, armed his shot, but it was countered in extremis by Warren Kamanzi (40e)
Shaken, the locals finally fought back to signal the danger on the opposing cage. First, Veljko Burmancevicon a delicious cross from Kamanzi, saw his header fly above the goals of Sollacaro (42e). Then the captain Brecht Dejaegere lacked accuracy and lucidity by directly sending a low center-shot into the arms of the goalkeeper (45e).
Téfécé folds the match in 3 minutes
In the wake of the last minutes of the first act, the two teams returned from the locker room with ants in the legs. But it was the Téfécé which proved to be the most threatening. Aboukhlalagain, showed clumsiness by missing the target, alone in front of goal (55e). Borrowed physically, the Corsicans began to suffer. By dint of pounding the Ajaccio rearguard, the locals were finally rewarded.
After multiple unsuccessful attempts, the Moroccan striker unlocked the score on a cross from the right of Thijs Dallinga (65e). Always driven by a hunger for corn, the people of Toulouse were quick to do it again. The freshly entered, Raphael Rataodoubled the lead with a superb curling shot, after a scramble between Dallinga and Aboukhlal (68e).
If the ACA had some hot actions afterwards, it nevertheless almost gave in a third time, if the attempt toIssiaga Sulla had not flirted with the Sollacaro post (82e). Confident, the band at Farès Chaïbi never loosened their grip on their opponent until the final whistle.
Strasbourg next game
Qualified for the next tour, the Toulousans will know the identity of their future opponent from this Monday, January 23 (7 p.m.). But before that, they will go to the lawn of Strasbourg (Bas Rhin)Sunday, January 29 (3 p.m.), on behalf of the 20e Ligue 1 day.
