The long-awaited stadium will open the match with Slavia. What worked and what bothered people?
/PHOTO/ Great football glory is approaching. On Saturday, February 4, the reconstructed Summer Stadium will be opened in Pardubice during the match between the home team FK Pardubice and SK Slavia Praha. Take a look at the new stadium with our readers and read what they have to say about it. We thank Mr. Jaroslav Černý and Mr. Jaromír Pých for the photos and opinions.

Football stadium near the Elbe
On Saturday, February 4, 2023, stitched Slavia will come to Pardubice. The construction of the new football stadium is finally finishing. The lighting (needs to be adjusted), the heated lawn (maybe it will snow or there will be a strong frost), the new grandstand and the optimistic limiting elements… I think the architects could have been more inspired by the pavilions of elephants, rhinos or wild beasts. Because when the hard cores of select football teams arrive, there will be things to fix. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a sign for the away fans, but hopefully the wildlife cage will be up by then. My impression is somewhat spoiled by the unmaintained historical monument Brána borcú. She should have collapsed. If I remember, it was only used for the finish line during the Peace Race. It was supposed to be demolished together with the cycling oval. I like the stadium, after all – what’s new is nice. I don’t care about the controversy over the empty horns among the audience. So far so good if they don’t go down. Jaroslav Černý, Pardubice
Good luck with sports, especially football
It’s coming soon! On January 29, 2023, FK Pardubice will play the first match of the football spring in Liberec. A week later, one of the strongest opponents will come to Pardubice. SK Slavia Prague. On January 11, I stopped by the newly completed stadium, which will finally provide a home environment for the fighters from the gingerbread city. Finishing work is in full swing, everything will definitely be as it should be on February 4, 2023. The players, officials and my viewers are very happy that after years of negotiations there is finally a football stadium in Pardubice, where the highest competition can be held, that another shopping center has not been built there. The stadium will bear the name of Arnošta Košťála, which, among other things, pleases us Roveňaks. However, I will not allow myself one remark… It’s a shame that it’s not a real football arena (like it will be in Hradec), a shame that it doesn’t have at least the capacity of the auditorium as the neighboring winter park, that’s at least the 10,000 seats. And as far as the name is concerned, the original name Summer Stadium would be suitable, it is always open to the draft from many sides, which is hardly seen anymore. I know, the counter-argument is well-known that everything can be done afterwards. Sure, but it will be many times more expensive. Well, nothing, if we don’t get to the auditorium, we can watch on a pay TV channel, as we have been used to for two years now. To keep my comment from sounding completely negative, of course I’m glad it costs at least what it costs. Dear friends, good luck with sports, football in particular, and maybe see you in the first league in Pardubice! Jaromír Pýcha, Dolní Roveň
