Passengers in the Prague metro are waiting for closures this year due to repairs on lines C and A
This follows from the overview of the company’s work this year, which is available to ČTK. DPP is the city’s largest company, which employs up to 11,000 people and is in charge of public transport operations.
The company started repairing the board last spring. For this year, the company has planned nine weekend closures of traffic between Hlavní nádraží and Vltavská stations, the first of which was already discovered last weekend. There will always be one lockout in each subsequent month until October, only two are planned for May. Specific dates will be specified by the company.
The monolithic ceiling slab has an area of approximately 4,000 square meters and is located under the intersection of Křižíkova and Ke Štvanici streets. The beams and plate must be replaced due to their corrosion. The Florenc station was put into operation in 1974 under the then name of Sokolovská.
On line C, on Easter from April 7 to 10, passengers will be waiting for a road closure between Vltavská and IP Pavlova, where the DPP will replace the old wooden sleepers with concrete sleepers. People will have to take alternative bus services. Another exchange of sleepers is planned in the Museum-Prague Uprising section. The work is being produced from July 1st to 10th, and in this case too, alternative transport will be introduced. The last exchange of the year takes place from November 17 to 19 between Vltavská and IP Pavlova.
The modernization of the security equipment is planned on route A from April 7 to 10 at the Želivského station. The metro will not run between Náměstí Míru and Strašnická. The company is also changing facilities at the Strašnická station, namely from July 5 to 10. At the same time, they will replace the sleepers at the Depo Hostivař station. Metro A so in the direction of the Motol Hospital will terminate at the Želivského station. People will have to use alternative transport and the route of bus number 125 from Skalka to Strašnická will also be extended.
The latest modernization is taking place in the city center, on Malostranská and Hradčanská streets. The metro will not run between Dejvická and Staroměstská. Replacement tram service will be introduced.
On route A, the Jiřího z Poděbrady station is out of service for ten months from January 14th, through which metro cars only pass. DPP will replace the escalators there, remove water leaks on the platform and in the escalator tunnel, prepare structures for suspended ceilings, replace damaged stone cladding or lighting. The business is also building a new lift for disabled access. The complete repair will cost 1.29 billion crowns and will end in February 2024.
