Founding event ten years ago
Vienna, January 18, 2023 (KAP) For 10 years, the non-profit organization “SOLWODI Austria” has been helping women in need. To mark this occasion, an anniversary event will take place on February 8th. Association chairwoman Sr. Patricia Erber and journalist Mathilde Schwabeneder will shed light not only on the history of the origins but also why raising awareness is currently more important than ever, according to a broadcast on Tuesday.
“SOLWODI Austria” is a contact point for women who are affected by violence, human trafficking or not. In addition to sudden crisis interventions, the association also offers acute counseling and care services for women and their children. The aim is to offer the women psychological stability as well as to boost their self-esteem and develop new perspectives in life. In acute situations, there is also the option of staying in anonymous shelters. In everything, however, the focus is on the autonomy of women and helping them to help themselves.
The Austrian association was founded by six religious orders, including the Congregation of the Sisters of the Divine Savior, Salvatorians and the Caritas Socialis Sisters’ Community. It goes back to the “SOLWODI” association, which operates internationally and was founded by Sr. Dr. Lea Ackermann was founded in Kenya in 1985. The international association is now active in several European countries and is committed to improving the position of women.
The anniversary event will take place on February 8, 2023 at 6 p.m. in the Kardinal-König-Haus in Vienna. In addition to the background to exploitation and insights into the activities of the association, there should also be examples of the biographies of women affected and an in-depth exchange at the end. The registration deadline for the event is January 25, 2023.
