Baraque de Fraiture: return of sliding on the roof of Belgium
After three years without a real white coat, it’s the great return of board sports at the Baraque de Fraiture, located 652 meters above sea level. Part of the piste and lifts opened this afternoon. Many families made the trip, to the great joy of the children.
Although they had come to adapt to the lack of snow in recent years, equipment rental companies welcome these first snowflakes with a discount. “It’s a little stressful, because winters without snow are catastrophic. There is always this suspense of knowing if the snow will fall or not. There are always doubts about the usefulness of continuing or not, but above all it remains a passion. So when we open it’s great“, explains Roch Goëbels, who runs a store in the Ardennes resort.
With the weather announced, the slide could also last. “If, as advertised by the buyers, the snow is still coming tomorrow, why not. Otherwise, we will try to do our best ourselves by working on the slopes so that it may be possible to open this weekend.“, says Julie Léonard, director of the Baraque de Fraiture resort.
Excellent news for all fans who could be several hundred throughout the weekend.
