At Fabešová’s cafe: Dessert for 195 crowns. And yet, it’s full all the time and there are queues all the way out

There are many businesses in Prague that are thriving and it’s impossible to get a seat here without being announced. The proof is, for example, the pub U Zlatého tygra, which often has all the tables reserved for the front. Anyone who doesn’t like beer and prefers a quality dessert with coffee probably hasn’t missed the phenomenon of confectioner Iveta Fabešová.
Among confectioners, this is one of the best-known faces of the Czech Republic. Already more than ten years ago, she took part in the reality show Na nože!, performed by Zdeněk Pohlreich and Roman Vaněk.
For many years, Fabešová had a vision of how to popularize luxurious French desserts in our region. And she succeeds. Her name is also a brand, as she currently has over 126 thousand followers on Instagram.
More than a year ago, she opened her own cafe in a historic building in Prague’s Kampa. The national revivalist Josef Dobrovský lived here, as well as the duo of actors Voskovec and Werich. Today, the building U Sovových mlýnů 501 is not called anything other than Werich’s villa.
Desserts for 195 crowns
The environment here is very pleasant. The seating is made of classic chairs, but also of comfortable sofas. Werich’s villa has a truly unmistakable atmosphere that is hard to find elsewhere.
However, Iveta Fabešová is not for everyone.
The prices are high, although we can say that it is really worth the money. However, not everyone can pay more for a dessert than the price of lunch and drinks in an average restaurant.
The wallet will especially bend if you go out with the family. A month ago, most desserts cost 189 crowns, today they cost 195 crowns. With coffee, you can easily leave 1,500 crowns for a family of four during a thirty-minute visit.

In addition to the classic pinwheel, which of course cannot be missed, you will also find special desserts.
For example, the so-called Popcorn, which is absolutely great by the way. It is made of white chocolate, crumbs, passion fruit cremeux and popcorn ganache. Pieces of salted popcorn krapet for dessert are definitely not a faux pas. The unusual taste hides a culinary experience.
For 195 crowns, not to mention, maybe a critic will pass.
But other desserts are also great. Whether pistachio dessert or Tiramisu cake. The so-called Mandarinka is sure to impress. In it, you will find a honey sponge with mandarin cremeux in a chestnut foam, which is covered in white chocolate.
Packed non-stop
Anyone who gets a sweet tooth from the description of the desserts and has no problem paying a high price can go right away. The cafe in the Werich villa is open every day from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. But it’s not just desserts, there are various pâtés or eggs benedict, especially for breakfast and brunch.
You just have to expect that you might have to wait a while.

At Iveta Fabešová’s, it’s non-stop blasted. An empty table won’t get warm here for very long. One group of customers leaves, another comes. Such a scenario repeats itself almost throughout the day. Especially on weekends, you have to count on the fact that you have to wait in line for a table for tens of minutes.
Asking the confectioner if the business is thriving is so pointless.
You see for yourself.
