New park piece via Firenze via rustic works
GALLIPOLI – A new piece to complete the recovery action of the recently redeveloped urban park in via Firenze and which will soon see the recovery of the old building in a rustic state, never completed, in which a new multipurpose center will be built.
After the announcements and previews of the past months and the approval of the related executive project in February of last year, we have now reached the executive phase of the program followed jointly by the municipal councilorship for public works and that for social services.
By the end of the month, therefore, the works, already entrusted, should start which will allow the recovery and enhancement of the building present inside the Philosophy park. In previous years, the Puglia Region assessed the project for the redevelopment of the rustic already present in the area as suitable, which will become, thanks to a loan of 540 thousand euros, a multi-purpose social center for the elderly.
Having therefore completed the interventions aimed at the general recovery of the park in via Firenze, created with funds from the municipal budget, we are now proceeding with the redevelopment of the building of over 250 square meters, abandoned and walled up for several years.
“The urban park in via Firenze is thus preparing to become a point of reference for all generations after a long process, also slowed down by the health emergency and the crisis” comments the councilor for public works, Riccardo Cuppone, “however we are now ready and by the end of January the construction site will officially open. By the end of 2023, the building will be handed over to the city. I thank the former councilor Angelo Mita for having followed this project which is the result of excellent teamwork “.
Specifically, the work will be carried out thanks to the resources of the public tender of the Region dedicated to the Zone Areas on “Wellness and Health, social and socio-health infrastructures for public beneficiaries”. Having acknowledged the percentage increase in the elderly population of the city, the project tackles this change through the concrete promotion of a series of actions and measures in order to improve their quality of life and opportunities for aggregation.
The new multi-purpose social center for the elderly will therefore be a structure which, through the creation of a program of activities and meeting services of a cultural, recreational and sporting nature, will have as its objective the socialization and participation of older citizens.
In particular, the aims of the center will be to promote and favor the protection of the health and a quality life of the elderly person. The center will therefore propose itself as a cultural reference for the city with moments of study, debates, meetings open to all citizens. There will be actions aimed at promoting, stimulating and supporting initiatives aimed at preventing situations of need and marginalization and at creating an intergenerational bridge between the elderly and young people, reintegrating them into the social fabric and enhancing their experience and their historical memory.
The building will be built in compliance with all specific technical regulations, with solutions that are both rewarding for energy saving and technological and innovative. It will include rooms dedicated to laboratories, reading and relaxation, socializing as well as changing rooms and toilets.
“It is a space that Gallipoli needs and we hope that there are no delays of any kind” adds the councilor for social services, Tonia Fattizzo, “a space dedicated to the community translates as a space dedicated to well-being and socializing . The lockdown has taught us that relationships are necessary and fundamental: ours is also an investment in the community, in sharing and exchanging values”.
