It has been announced: Manchester United will soon have a new owner!
One of the richest British businessmen, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, and the INEOS company will buy Manchester United, a member of the English football league, MTI reported on the news.
“We have officially joined the process” – said the spokesperson of one of the world’s largest chemical companies to The Times.
MU was bought in 2005 by the Glazer family, which also owns the Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL team, for 790 million pounds. For a long time, the ownership circle has had a strained relationship with the team’s fans, who protested against them in 2021, after the team was among the creators and supporters of the European Super League. The Glazers announced in November that they would sell the club if a suitable offer was made.
It is interesting that Ratcliffe and INEOS – it also has a professional road cycling and sailing team – also tried to buy Chelsea last April, but the runner-up was an American investor group with an offer of £4.25.
MU is currently fourth in the Premier League after 18 matches.
