Iconic KBC building on canal makes way for new residential project | Brussels
Brussels‘The Banks’ is the name of the new residential project that will soon be built on the site of the well-known KBC building. According to the plans of client Triple Living, there will be three residential towers and a residential strip, set around a collective courtyard garden and many facilities for residents and local residents. The site would be completed in 3-4 years.
The demolition works of the former KBC building are currently in full swing. Follow the construction work for the new housing project of client Triple Living. The site offers various housing types, including duplexes and apartments that vary greatly in size and number of bedrooms. A few family homes with their own entrance will be built in the lower residential strip.
The different living units can each have a specific outdoor space. security of the building that winter gardens, terrace rooms or balconies, with or without a view of the canal. With the project, Triple Living will meet the mobile need for affordable housing in Brussels. In total there will be 2167 residential units on a living area of almost 30,000 square meters, with at least 4,000 square meters of office space.
Collective spaces
The site will have an open character, as a result of the identified greening of the area. Connections are being made with, among other things, the future Becopark and the park at Tour & Taxis. A safe part of the plots is guaranteed for collective areas, such as offices, a crèche, a brasserie, two meeting centers and even a hotel.
Bureau Bas Smets is responsible for the landscape design, architectural firms OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen and Nicolas Firket Architects for the design of the master plan and the buildings. Work on the site should be completed in 3 to 4 years.
