The first visitors came to the temple shortly after nine o’clock, but many of them were already waiting at the place at six in the morning. The jewels can only be seen for a limited time – until Saturday, January 21, daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In addition to the standard check at the entrance to the Prague Castle grounds, you can also undergo a tour at the entrance to the cathedral. Among the first was a family with children from Prague. “My husband has been waiting in line in front of the Castle since around six,” said the visitor. Both she and the children liked the exhibition very much.
Two classes of the first grade of the primary school in Vysočany also arrived right away. Even her teacher had to get up and join the queue before 07:00. “I was with the children at the jewelry exhibition five years ago, they were excited,” she said. She added that at that time there was a reservation system for schools.
Babiš arrived
Shortly after 08:00, roughly two hundred people were already waiting in the southern gardens of Prague Castle. The organizers started letting them into the courtyard of the cathedral at around 08:45. People who arrived after eight o’clock already waited in line for about an hour and a half. Before ten o’clock, presidential candidate Andrej Babiš also joined the queue. At the same time, according to iDnes.cz originally canceled the planned visit to the exhibition. “I’m not going anywhere, everyone is running an anti-Babiš campaign,” the server quoted Babiš as saying on Monday.
Server List of Messages on Tuesday at Babiš Castle, he said he wanted to see how long the queue for the exhibition was. He stated that, as president, he would consider displaying the Crown Jewels always on holidays. But when he saw the queue today, he remarked that “it would probably need a permanent exhibition”.
The exhibition is accompanied by significant security measures. Two members of the castle guard are standing right next to the display case with the jewels, others are guarding the whole temple together with soldiers and policemen.
Free entry
As in the past, entry to the exhibition is free and priority entry is given to visitors in wheelchairs with a ZTP or ZTP/P card. The tour route leads through the southern gardens from Opyš via the Bull Stairs to the third courtyard to the main entrance to the cathedral.
The crown chamber in the St. Vitus Cathedral at Prague Castle, where the Czech crown jewels are kept, was opened on Monday by seven key holders. The jewelers then took the jewels out of it together with the preservationists and unpacked them from their box.
The Czech crown jewels served as badges of the rule and power of the Czech kings. Set includes Wenceslas crown, royal scepter, royal apple, leather case for them, crown cushion and coronation cloak with accessories. The St. Wenceslas crown was made in 1346 by Charles IV. for his coronation as Czech king the following year.
