Czech police arrested the head of the Russian mafia. Boss was hiding in Prague
Detectives of the National Center against Organized Crime (NCOZ) arrested an internationally wanted mobster in Prague. It was supposed to be the head of the Russian-speaking mafia. The Security Information Service (BIS) will also appear to refute the dangerous man.
Detectives from NCOZ in Prague detained Georgians for whom an international arrest warrant was issued by the United States. The man is supposed to be the so-called “raft in the law”, i.e. the head of the Russian-speaking mafia. The Security Information Service (BIS) and foreign security forces are also involved in the search for him.
Georgians were wanted by American authorities on suspicion of committing particularly serious crimes. In addition to the mafia boss, the police also managed to arrest his bodyguard, also a citizen of Georgia.
“The current arrest of a ‘crook in the law’ in Prague is a great example of excellent international cooperation and the best long-term cooperation of BIS and NCOZ. The time when the Russian underworld had a peaceful background in the Czech Republic must never return,” Czech counterintelligence commented on the event at twitter.
“The man is currently in extradition custody, where he will remain until the decision of the extradition proceedings to extradite him to the USA,” police spokesman Jaroslav Ibehej added to the case. The case is supervised by the Municipal Prosecutor’s Office in Prague.
