Municipal elections were held in the Czech Republic at the end of September last year, but the outlines of what the new government over Prague could look like are only now beginning to take shape.
The metropolis should be governed by a coalition based on the government plan, i.e. the group Together (ODS, TOP 09 and KDU-ČSL), Pirates and Mayors and independents.
A breakthrough in the hitherto unsuccessful negotiations occurred only last week, when Spulu offered the Pirates and STAN a majority in the Council.
The Prague Self Association, with whom the Pirates were until Monday in the so-called Alliance for the Future, will ultimately not participate in the management of the city.
Seznam Zprávy obtained – from four independent sources close to the negotiations – information about what the new structure of the Prague City Council could look like.
Svoboda mayor, Uzheniya finance
Together with him, he will have a mayor, who is to become a member of parliament and former head of the Prague City Hall, Bohuslav Svoboda (ODS). He should also take care of energy.
According to the proposal, the grouping should also manage the areas of healthcare, social affairs and housing, which would be taken over by People’s Party Pavel Mareš. “You know more than I do. Gesce is being resolved. Until everything is agreed, nothing is agreed,” Mareš responded to a question from Seznam Zpráv.
Jiří Pospíšil from TOP 09, MEP and chairman of the board of directors of the Medy and Jana Mládkov Foundation, should be in charge of culture, his fellow party member Michal Hroza should manage infrastructure.
The mayor of the Prague 2 district, Alexandra Udženija from the ODS, should take the seat of councilor for finance. she just didn’t want it.
The Alliance for the Future has fallen apart
The Pirates left the Alliance for the Future, which they created with the Praha Seba movement after the elections for joint negotiations. The coalition partners did not accept Prague.
Strong Pirates
The Pirates should occupy four posts, as it is an economically and powerfully strong portfolio.
Adam Zábranský would be the property manager, Zdeněk Hřib the outgoing mayor of transport, Jana Komrsková the environment, and Daniel Mazur the former mayor of Prague 5 the IT area.
“It is one of the possibilities. However, the Pirates Club has not discussed it yet and will discuss it in the coming days,” Seznam Zprávám Mazur said.
The STAN movement gets two jobs. Territorial development was directed by the electoral leader of STAN in Prague, architect Petr Hlaváček. In turn, the new chairman of the Prague organization of Elders and Independents, Antonín Klecanda, should lead the school system.
“The priority is to expand places in secondary schools, new elementary schools, kindergartens and sports fields. And also more accessible pedagogic-psychological counseling centers,” Klecanda indicated his priority.
