A museum of light opened in Prague. In the Lumia Gallery you can see and experience light artwork
The Lumia Gallery is both art and fun. “Each installation finds its fans,” says gallery owner and author of several works Filip Feex. He invited the artists Ati Sphere, Michal Škorpík and Slávek Hrdina to create lighting devices that used more than two kilometers of cables and a hundred mirrors. “The mirror maze is also popular. Ours is modern and can really confuse visitors. Sometimes I get lost in it myself,” adds Filip Feex. Yes, it’s true, Filip and I got lost during the filming as well.
The exhibition begins with a room that tries to create a feeling of infinity. “There are programmed lights and lots of mirrors, so you get the feeling that your view doesn’t end up, down, or to either side. We wanted people to experience the feeling of a space that is not limited in any way,” describes the entrance to the exhibition by its co-creator.
another piece on display are bright plants where you can play and pluck their organic shapes, branches and stems. But you can also walk along the river. “This is an interactive video mapping on the ground, where we have created a certain backdrop resembling a river bed,” describes the artist. It ripples like water, and when one walks through it, a trail is left behind.
Mirror labyrinth, videomapping, 3D projection, kaleidoscopic cinema, ledmapping or interactive video projection reacting to the movement and position of visitors. This is just a small list of what you can see in Lumia Gallery. The content of the permanent exhibition will change regularly. The exhibition is suitable for all ages. The attached photos will say more than words.
The permanent light exhibition called Lumia Gallery can be found in Prague’s Celetná Street, between Old Town Square and Powder Gate. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
