Visit to İmamoğlu from 90 experienced politicians: ‘The issue is Turkey’
In the 90s, the politician, who was in the different spectrum of the Turkish political movement, paid a support visit to the imprisoned Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlu. Imamoglu, ‘This visit supports Turkey’s democracy, not its person’ stressed.
İmamoğlu was sentenced to two years, months and 15 days at the hearing of the case on 14 December for insulting a public official. For İmamoğlu, who was also punished by Article 53 of the TCK, ‘political ban’ period there was.
Politicians who have shaped the country’s policy are bringing together in Saraçhane today to support İmamoğlu due to his sentence.
According to the news of ANKA, Imamoglu, among them Altan Oymen, Murat Karayalçın, Hikmet Cetin, Hüsamettin Cindoruk, Seyfi Oktay, Saadettin Tantan, Algan Hacaloğlu, Nesrin Nas, Hikmet Sami Türk, Bahattin Yücel, Mukadder Başeğmez, Celal Doğan, Nurettin Sözen, Ali Müfit Gürtuna hosted politicians such as Yaşar Okuyan, Ercan Karakaş, Yüksel Yalova, Ahat Andican, Süleyman Çelebi and Süheyl Batum at the IMM Assembly Hall.
Cindoruk: People keep some politicians under protection
The politicians who attended the meeting made evaluations. Hüsamettin Cindoruk, who undertook duties such as acting president, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and Chairman of the Democrat Turkey Party throughout his political life, said the following:
“I have seen something in 70 years of political life. The people embrace some politicians, adopt them and keep them under their protection. Menderes is such a person, Ecevit is such a person. Today, Ekrem President is such a person. He is completely under the protection of the people, he is a politician he embraces. There are people who want to go against our politician politically. Salute to those abodes. Ekrem President will continue his politics with his political wealth.”
Cetin: It’s about Turkey
Hikmet Çetin, who previously held the positions of Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, ministry of ministry and chairmanship of CHP, said: “The issue is not just the Imamoglu issue, it’s the Turkey issue. Unless we think about it that way, we cannot prevent many injustices. In fact, the government is doing this: It is clearing the area. So it’s trying to destroy people who might be neighbors, it’s clearing the area. It started with Mr. Ekrem. Soon they will close HDP as well, so they are going towards clearing the area. We did not stand against it. This is not possible just by holding two rallies in Saraçhane. As the opposition ‘Nothing will happen anyway’ If we say, false marriages.”
Saadet Partili Gökçınar: own essence
Former Ministers of Justice Seyfi Oktay and Hikmet Sami Türk also evaluated the discussion and explained it in detail.
Necdet Gökçınar, who rivaled İmamoğlu as the candidate of the Felicity Party in the local elections of March 31 and June 23, 2019. “Now, seeing the President of Ekrem sitting there, I burn myself. Why is that? Sir, I could have been president too. The same thing could have happened in my growing up. When something like this happens to a friend of ours who is in that position, we should stand by him.” said.
İmamoğlu: I am very honored
İmamoğlu also said that he wished to be pleased with the visit and that they saw it in a short time:
“I am very honored, very proud. An amazing moment for me. Sometimes there is a good in every evil. Such an evil is never desired, but sometimes, if the center from which one receives power is healthy, sound, then such moments make you more severe, more resilient. He teaches his contributions to the struggle for democracy embodied here today. This is not a personal support for Ekrem İmamoğlu. This is actually a contribution to Turkey’s democracy, the justice of the Republic of Turkey and its struggle to be a rule of law.
For Istanbul, the meaning of ending the fight with justice means limiting the possible threats of a journey to justice for Turkey as well. We have a choice before us. Every one of the injustice practices we can think of is likely to be waiting for us at the door. In fact, we are the sons of the Republic of Turkey, which we proudly celebrate together on these lands and will continue to celebrate, develop and strengthen. Perhaps this threshold is a historical threshold in this second century struggle, which contributes to us from now on and we will bring our Republic together with the strongest democracy and the most beautiful state of law and justice in the world. If you can recover this output well, it will become a treatment practice that will make history for the second century, on behalf of our nation.”
