Toulouse. National Order of Merit: actions with young people
After two years of interruption, the Haute-Garonne section of the National Association of Members of the National Order of Merit (ANMONM 31) presented its traditional wishes on Wednesday in front of some 120 guests, decorated members and other personalities, gathered at the CCI From toulouse.
Values and missions of the National Order of Merit
An opportunity for the brand new president of ANMONM 31, Sylvain Besançon, to recall the values and missions of the National Order of Merit as well as their dynamic application in Haute-Garonne, primarily in favor of young people. “We work a lot, thanks to the support of the Departmental Council, with young college students with – The shields of secularism – which give rise to a drawing or painting competition around the values of secularism”, underlines the president. The same competition which awards the Arnaud Beltrame prize exists for high school students, and this “despite a more difficult commitment to obtain from the establishments”, he regrets. Among the many actions of ANMONM 31, “Les Journées citoyennes” which honors deserving young people aged 13 to 18 with “Prizes for civics”, remains a highlight for the association, and will take place this year at the Meteo France amphitheater.
Work on the duty of memory is also carried out with college or high school students around a show they create on this subject, like this year at Gratentour college on the theme of committed women. As for the National Order of Merit, which will celebrate its 60th anniversary this year and was created by General de Gaulle, it rewards the merits of citizens, civilians or soldiers of the country, for their acts of dedication, bravery or concession . In Haute-Garonne, nearly 3,000 people have been honored in this Order and nearly 180,000 nationally, or 0.3% of the population.
