Road accident in Tortona, trains in chaos on the Genoa-Milan line: delays of more than 2 hours
Genoa. Trains in chaos on the Milan-Genoa line due to a road accident in Tortona which required the intervention of the fire brigade and the interruption of railway traffic.
A truck overturned in one of the underpasses that cross the railway. The vehicle was powered by LPG cylinders: for this reason, in order to avoid the risk of explosions, the Nbcr nucleus of the firefighters and the police forces have decided to prohibit the transit of trains until complete safety measures which could still last various ore.
For the trains involved there are delays of even more than two hours: 130 minutes for the Frecciarossa Venice Santa Lucia-Genoa Brignole, over two hours for the Eurocity Genoa Principe-Zurich, an hour and a half for the Intercity Ventimiglia-Milan Central and for the Intercity Milan Central-Livorno Central.
Trenitalia has rescheduled the service. The Intercity train 680 La Spezia Centrale (16:38) – Milano Centrale (20:00) ends today in Genoa Piazza Principe. Passengers can connect the journey with the Eurocity 326 train Genoa Piazza Principe (18:09) – Chiasso – Zürich Hauptbahnhof (23:27) to Milan Rogoredo where they can continue on with the first useful trains by the Customer Service staff of Trenitalia.
