Ehpad near Toulouse: a caregiver suspected of abuse “will be fired”
A dismissal procedure was initiated on Monday against a caregiver suspected of mistreatment of several residents of a nursing home in Blagnac, near Toulouse, said the management of the establishment.
A 48-year-old employee of this private retirement home of the Edenis group is suspected of violence and acts of negligence on three residents, revealed this weekend The Noon Dispatch.
“The employee confessed certain things”
This caregiver, who had worked since June 2019 for Edenis, was laid off at the end of December by her employer for “suspicions of abuse”. “The employee confessed to certain things” and “will be fired”, specifies the management, who says he filed a handrail at the end of December, and encouraged the family to file a complaint. “These are systematic measures from the moment when there are facts which are admitted and with which we do not procrastinate”, adds the establishment, which ensures that “all the residents concerned are well”.
The Defender of Rights, Claire Hédon, alerts Monday in a new report on the persistence of acts of “abuse” and “infringement” on the fundamental rights of the elderly in retirement homes, eighteen months after her previous report and the publication of the investigative book “Les Fossoyeurs”.
