On January 10th and 11th, 2023, a Liechtenstein delegation met with various representatives of South Tyrolean agriculture and exchanged views on the challenges and opportunities in the field of agriculture.
Head of office Stefan Hassler, Office for the Environment, Head of Agriculture, Andres Weber, and the employee responsible for agriculture in the Ministry of the Interior, Economy and Environment, Miriam Marxer, found out about South Tyrolean agriculture on January 10th and 11th, 2023. They were accompanied by Matthias Gauly, Professor of Livestock Sciences and Management at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.
At the meeting with the agricultural state councilor Arnold Schuler, the further development of agricultural policy was discussed. The greening and strengthening of the innovative power as well as the dialogue with society are of central importance for a sustainable and future-oriented agriculture in South Tyrol as well as in Liechtenstein. In another meeting, the director of the agricultural department, Martin Pazeller, informed about the structure and organization of South Tyrolean agriculture. At the South Tyrolean Farmers’ Association, Matthias Bertagnolli and Astrid Weiss presented the innovation counter, which farmers can use to get support for innovative ideas. Such support is also planned as part of the 2022 agricultural policy report, which was approved by the state parliament in November 2022. At the goat farmer David Perathoner, the delegation was able to see an innovative showcase example on site.
The Liechtenstein delegation agreed that the transnational dialogue in the Alpine region is very valuable and should be continued in the future.
