They denounce the attack on a Bizkaibus driver on the Bilbao-Mungia line
The Vectalia Txorierri Works Council has denounced the assault suffered by a driver during the night of Saturday while carrying out his Bizkaibus service in the line 3516 Bilbao-Mungia.
“This society cannot continue tolerating this type of act,” the committee denounced in a statement, while calling two concentrations of repulse. The first will be held this Monday, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mungia Town Halland the second on Wednesday, the 18th, at 11:00 a.m. in front of the Diputación Palace in Bilbao.
The Basque Department of Security has reported for its part that on the 00.20 hours this Sundaya driver from the Bizkaibus service claimed the presence of an Ertzaintza patrol, since a woman was hitting the vehicle. The local police officers from Mungia went to the place.
“It is not an isolated case”
For his part, the deputy for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Miguel Ángel Gómez Viarhas described what happened as “totally unacceptable” and has announced that it will meet with the Vectalia Txorierri works council to “analyze the facts and study the implementation of possible measures to tackle these situations, which cannot happen again”.
“Unfortunately It is not an isolated case, because we have seen how in recent months there have been several physical or verbal attacks against Bizkaibus workers in the exercise of their functions that must be eradicated”, he added.
Likewise, the foral entity has informed of what is expected that this Monday the corresponding complaint is filed for these facts. “Both from the Department and from the company we have transferred all our support and solidarity to the driver, and we have made ourselves available to her for everything she needs,” she finally pointed out.
