Rotterdam top broker advises against former prostitution building: “Terrible”
Leslie de Ruiter, a well-known real estate agent who sells houses in the most expensive segment of the Netherlands, does not mention a former prostitution building on Oudezijds Achterburgwal. He discusses the house in a program on Youtube.
In the ad on Funda talks about a monumental building in a location that is ‘lively’ and is characterized by ‘a great deal of interest in catering establishments, such as hotels, restaurants and cafes’. “The building is known as part business space and part living space, so ideal for a combination of living and working.”
Anxious
“This is a window, this is inside the red light district. And the broker carefully removes that word,” says De Ruiter. “And that you live in the red light district, more people do. Only, this is one of those properties. Because you see on that bar stool, of course a lady has been sitting there. You also see that couch, that bed, with plastic, you can clean it afterwards. And after the deed is done, of course you will also shower.”
Co-presenter Floris Wyers, publisher of a magazine for wealthy Dutch people, then discovers that a special lamp may still have traces. De Ruiter: “It’s terrible, it’s terrible.”
Similar property
It is not the first former prostitution that comes up for sale. A building similar to Oudezijds Achterburgwal 110 was built two years ago offered for 1.5 million euros.
De Ruiter, who lives in Rotterdam himself, previously sold, among other things penthouses on Dam Square. The entire episode of the FundaFun program can be seen below:
