Monaco corrects Ajaccio thanks to a gala Wissam Ben Yedder
A correction. After his defeat suffered in the Coupe de France against Rodez last weekend (2-2, 5-4 loss on pens), then his draw won at the very end of the match on Wednesday at Moustoir Fr League 1 (2-2), AS Monaco had the mission to redeem themselves from Louis II this Sunday. As part of the 19th day of Ligue 1, the last of the first leg, the Principality club received the first relegation player, AC Ajaccio (5:05 p.m.), and the contract was respected since the Rock club largely won (7-1). In this duel between two formations with opposite dynamics – Monaco being engaged in the race for Europe, AC Ajaccio, in the race to maintain – no observation lap has stiffened the pace of the meeting.
From the 2nd minute of play, vice-world champion Axel Disasi showed the way to his partners by scoring his second goal of the season from a corner kick by Aleksandr Golovin. The excitement quickly reflected on the Ajaccian defense since Krepin Diatta also went there for his goal, after a cross from Vanderson and a long moment of Corsican hesitation (2-0, 7th). By scoring his second goal of the season, the Senegalese equaled his total of goals scored in Ligue 1 during the last two exercises, where he had often been injured. But there was no time to fall asleep in front of the show, anything but flat, since Youcef Belaïli, the ACA’s providential man since November, offered a hint of hope to his team by scoring his fifth goal of the season (2 -1, 11th). Following a recovery error from Guillermo Maripán, Cyrille Bayala served the Algerian, who triggered a spontaneous shot, only grazed by Alexander Nübel. A short-lived hope, however.
Wissam Ben Yedder confirms his prosperous period, Ajaccio, his aversion to travel
Already a scorer against Rodez and Lorient since the return from truce, Wissam Ben Yedder delivered another XXL performance, supposedly guessing that his non-selection for the World Cup had already been put away in the bad memory box. Scorer in the 21st minute after a good job of fixing and a low shot with the left foot, the former FC Sevilla player did it again seven minutes later. After virtuoso work by Alexandr Golovin between four Ajacciens, Ben Yedder once again showed his amazing sense of goal by scoring from a difficult angle. The native of Sarcelles even offered himself a hat-trick in the space of 14 minutes against Benjamin Leroy, this time from the penalty spot, after a collision by Ismaël Diallo on Krepin Diatta (5-1, 35th). A major performance since the French international (19 caps, 3 goals) also became the first player to score a triple in the first half of a Ligue 1 match, since Cheikh Diabaté in April 2014 with Bordeaux.
Besides that, the Ajaccian defense hadn’t displayed sound or image for a long time, confirming its difficulties outside its bases in Ligue 1 (no more wins since October 8 in Marseille). If the pace went down several floors on returning from the locker room, Vanderson did not intend to end there. Very active on his side, the Brazilian right side was not far from delivering his third assist of the evening, but Ismaël Traoré intervened as a firefighter on duty in front of Caio Henrique (62nd). On the following corner, the Corsicans, passive, saw on the other hand Breel Embolo increase the addition (6-1, 63rd). The Swiss was even close to offering himself a double after a star service from the very restless Krepin Diatta, but his shot went over Benjamin Leroy’s goal. He offered it all the same at the end of the meeting. After stealing the ball from the feet of Oumar Gonzalez, the former Schalke player adjusted Leroy with a subtle dive. Mass was said (7-1, 89th). A great operation for the Monegasques who will temporarily integrate the top 4 of the championship and sent back to 5 units of OM, which they will face the next day. For their part, Olivier Pantaloni’s players are relegated and are in 18th place in the standings.
