A Petit-Quevillythe CIS Rouen Sud (Fire and Rescue Center) operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Under the command of Captain Rozenn Ribot, to the rhythm of the guards and body life, the firefighters spent almost more time there than at home. On the proposal of Didier Schlenker, a firefighter with a long experience, the officer thus accepted “an interesting project which allows an artist to embellish the center. It gives soul to our workplace”.
A fresco of 45 m2
For five days, the graffiti artist Stefanis produced a 45 m2 fresco on the wall of the CrossFit space, placed in the middle of the vehicle shed, the maneuvering area, and above all in view of the exits for interventions and re-entries.
“I started graffiti thanks to Kejo. Graphic designer by profession, I have always been passionate about drawing, and the bomb allows me to express myself in front of an audience. It made me happy when Didier Schlenker called me and it’s great to be able to pay tribute to, in my opinion, heroes,” explains the graffiti artist.
A hundred bombs needed for the realization
The artist adds that she “made artistic proposals and the firefighters chose between them”. My realization includes the Cathedral of Rouen, the Flaubert bridge, water, fire and a rhinoceros, symbol of power and abnegation with an ax and a pipe. It took me over a hundred bombs to finish it.”
At a cost of 2,000 euros, the fresco was financed by the sponsor Cap Finances, and will be unveiled definitively during Sainte-Barbe and the change of command, on January 13, 2023.
