A virtual reality tool will allow you to enjoy the painting by moving inside it
Street art in the garden of San Jacopino in Florence. This afternoon the mural he created was inaugurated artists Lorenzo Tonda and Federico Niccolai in the’green area ‘Samb Modou and Diop Mor’ in via Maragliano.
In addition to the artists, among others, the councilor for youth policies Cosimo Guccione, the councilor for rights and equal opportunities Benedetta Albanese, the president of District 1 Maurizio Sguanci, Edoardo Amato of the youth commission of District 1, Adriana Dada of the Anti-Fascist Network of San Jacopino-Puccini-Porta a Prato and Vania Bagni, president of Anpi Firenze.
The wall depicts a banquet held outdoors in a garden and is inspired by the “Eat as you speak“, a spontaneous initiative that for many years took place right in the green area of San Jacopino where people who lived in the neighborhood were invited to bring typical foods from their country of origin to share them with others.
The children and teenagers who usually visit the garden also took part in the creation of the mural, creating clay elements that will later be scanned in 3D and reproduced on the wall. The artistic project, in addition to the pictorial work, has foreseen the creation of one online virtual reality tool that will allow you to enjoy the painting by moving inside itwhere it will be possible to find documents, photos and videos relating to the history of the garden. Gold Productions, the film production house of the Gold circuit based in Florence, supplied the virtual reality viewers.
The initiative is part of the sixth edition of Rights Day, promoted by the Municipality of Florence, underway, aimed at raising awareness on the issues of contrasting violence against women, witnessing violence and gender discrimination, discrimination on the LGBTIQA+ issue and promoting the rights of women and LGBTIQA+ people.
“Our city is enriched by another work of street art – he underlined the commissioner Guccione – the administration’s policy is precisely to make Florence more and more an open-air museum with different works and the involvement of artists from all over Italy. This mural, created by two young graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts, is inspired by one of the traditional events in this garden. It refers to the more traditional iconography of painting but can be performed, for the first time, with methods widely used by young people: an online virtual reality tool will allow you to enjoy the painting by moving inside it, where it will be possible to find documents, photos and videos relating to the history of the garden”.
“Objective of the Festival of rights – he declared the Albanian councilor – is to raise awareness on the issues of rights and equality using inclusion and social cohesion as levers: this mural is the best example of how a community can tell its story by promoting the culture of rights through an initiative aimed at raising awareness of interculturality”. “In a difficult moment like the one we are experiencing – he added – we do not intend to back down, on the contrary, as a Municipality we are engaged in the front row on the rights front together with many associations and many citizens’ realities, which we want to thank starting with those that today have contributed to the creation of this work of great artistic but above all social value”.
