Emma Villas Aubay Siena engaged in Piacenza. Cruciani: “The month of January is crucial for us”
Away in Emilia Romagna for Emma Villas Aubay Siena who tomorrow evening (the match will start at 20.30) will visit Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza for a challenge valid for the fourth day of the second round of the Superlega championship. The red and white come from the victories centered in the championship in Trento and then also in the Cev Cup in Romania. All without deploying Leal and Lucarelli again. “Let’s look at ourselves and at what we have to try to do better – he declares the assistant coach of Emma Villas Aubay Siena, Simone Cruciani. – It is logical that many components are needed to win in Piacenza, our goal is always to do our best and the best performance possible, improving our phases of the game and our way of being on the pitch. Piacenza together with Perugia has the longest squad in the Superlega championship in terms of quantity and quality of players available. So much so that without two fundamental and top-level players like Leal and Lucarelli they have achieved excellent results, including the victory in Trento. They have many weapons at their disposal, our focus must however be on us to increase the quality of our game and then decrease that of the opponents”.
“Thinking about the match against Milan – continues Cruciani – we still feel a lot of regret. But not because we had the presumption of feeling necessarily competitive, but because we had prepared the match to the maximum of our potential and commitment, with the desire to deliver a performance up to our expectations. However, this did not happen, thanks to Milan and also to the fault of ghosts who forcefully return. We are working to remove those moments, in order to express a more serene performance and be more carefree on the pitch, looking for the way to better performances”.
Cruciani again: “Let’s not kid ourselves, the month of January is crucial for us as far as our future is concerned. We prepare all races to win them, both mentally and technically and tactically. We will try to do even better and overcome our limits”.
The Piacenza players, even without Leal and Lucarelli, have just won the Trento sports hall in the Superlega championship. It was a prestigious victory for the boys coached by Massimo Botti who won two games out of three in their second round in the championship, first in Verona and then in Trento, losing however the home match against Modena. The ranking sees the Emilians in fifth place with 25 points, behind Perugia, Modena, one point behind Lube which is third, and with the same points as Trento which however boasts a better set quotient.
In this week Piacenza was also involved in the Cep Volleyball Cup, and the red and white conquered another precious success in Romania against Cs Arcada Galati: three sets to zero for the Italian team which thus comes one step away from qualifying for the quarterfinals competition final. On the occasion, Simon scored 14 points and Yuri Romanò 12, the great ex of the day in the match that will be played in Emilia on Sunday evening. Under the circumstance Piacenza started the match with Brizard and Romanò diagonally, Simon and Caneschi in the centre, Recine and Basic on the band, Scanferla free. Lucarelli did not take part in the trip to Romania, while Leal did not play after being put on the scoresheet as a second libero.
