LUXEMBOURG – Between drinking and driving, many motorists have not chosen in recent hours.
This night, between Friday 8:30 p.m. and Saturday 4 a.m., alcohol tests were carried out by order of the public prosecutor’s office in Troisvierges, Wincrange, Weiswampach, Kayl, Kehlen, Luxembourg (route de Logwy and route d’Arlon) and Howald. Of the 598 motorists checked, 19 had drunk too much and 7 licenses were withdrawn.
Apart from this vast operation, several drivers were caught. Shortly before midnight, the police were alerted that a motorist was driving strangely on the A1: witnesses had reported that he brushed the safety triggers then went back on the gas and that he had headed towards the Wasserbillig area . This is where the police checked him. The blood alcohol test revealed that it was almost twice the maximum allowed. Officials also found that he did not have a driver’s license. The prosecution was informed and ordered criminal proceedings.
Another driver also doubled, a little earlier, rue Wolter in Dudelange. The police noticed that he was driving around in a strange way. He had to undergo a blood alcohol test and a drug test. Both tested positive. His driver’s license was confiscated. Same sanction, shortly before midnight, for a motorist who had drunk too much, rue de Kayl in Schifflange.
