Selective collection of packaging in Portugal increases by 6% in 2022
Sociedade Ponto Verde (SPV) disclosed that the selective packaging collection increased by 6% in 2022, compared to the previous year. THE growth was registered in all materials, in particular glass (8%), with a total of 218,857 tons, and not aluminum (18%), with 1917 tons collected.
AN SPV is an institution that organizes, manages the assimilation and preservation of packaging waste, through Integrated Packaging Waste Management System (SIGRE), of which it is one of the managing entities.
In a statement, a SPV underlines that Portugal is on the right track to achieve the new national targets for the recycling of packaging placed on the market, since the global consumption rate consumed is practically 60%, and the current target is 55%. In 2025, our country will have to reach 65% and in 2030, 70%.

AN entity took advantage International Thanksgiving Day (January 11) to thank the Portuguese for contributing to the achievement of these goals, as well as “for placing more than 460,000 tons of packaging in the green, yellow and blue ecopoints last year”.
