Delyan Dobrev hopes that the third mandate will go to “Democratic Bulgaria”
“I hope the bearer of third term to be “Democratic Bulgaria”, because from there I see a chance to create a government. If the mandate is there, we have already declared our support, as well as the PP, which automatically means 140 MPs. I hope more parties will get involved in this administration”. This was stated in the studio of “More of the day” on BNT by the chairman of the energy commission in the National Assembly and the deputy from GERB, Delyan Dobrev.

Regarding energy policy in our country, Dobrev emphasizes that he has a clear vision for Bulgarian energy. This week a decision was made for the 7th and 8th units of the Kozloduy NPP – this is a vision for decades to come. The first unit will probably be ready in about 8 years, and the second will be ready in 15 years and will operate for another 60 years, he adds.
“The common European target is to reduce emissions by 55%, taking 1990 as the base year. This is the target for all EU countries. We have achieved this goal first in the EU. We are the best in the EU in terms of carbon footprint reduction. the most serious argument is that our EU carbon footprint is 1.5% of EU pollution. Germany is with 12%, Poland with 14%. All other countries have a larger carbon footprint than Bulgaria. – low pollution is the country that is the best in the EU in terms of climate goals, it is indicated the most,” said Delyan Dobrev.
According to Dobrev, it is impossible to bring two new nuclear capacities to the “Belene” NPP, as suggested by the official energy minister. “After the start of the war in Ukraine, but also before this project was impossible because we cannot finance it and it is not clear how this project will be fully feasible. It was funny because it costs 10.5 billion and we can’t. The average price of electricity then from it was 75 euros, which against the background of 20-30 euros of electricity, at the moment when this decision was made, seemed unthinkable,” he specified Dobrev.
In relation to Lukoil, 4 laws were passed, guaranteeing the first derogation that was given to the company, but it will not be in its favor. According to this, it is the most important project. “Lukoil” collected some BGN 3 billion from Bulgarian consumers. Instead of fuels falling the way the price of Ural oil is falling, they were going up in Bulgaria all the time. And what we have done with this law is that 70% of the difference between the two types of Brent will go to the energy security fund, which is state-owned,” said Delyan Dobrev.
The criterion for who will receive compensation will be the maximum insurance threshold, i.e. those who receive salaries above this threshold, they do not have the right to receive compensations – only a few percent of the population will not receive them for the fuels, added Dobrev.
