Toulouse: A new website dedicated to flood prevention
A new website dedicated to flood prevention in the Toulouse conurbation is online: floods-agglo-toulousaine.fr
January 10 and 11, 2022 were marked by flooding of the Garonne and some of its tributaries. Although the maximum water level was well below the level that would be reached in the event of an exceptional flood, roads were impacted, but also homes and businesses. Motorists trapped by the waters had to be rescued, while in Toulouse the island of Ramier had to be partially evacuated. For Nicole Miquel-Belaud, Metropolitan Councilor in charge of flood prevention: “these floods are a reminder of the reality of the risk to which the Toulouse conurbation is exposed”.
To prevent and reduce this risk, Toulouse Métropole has committed in 2021 to a Flood Prevention Action Program (PAPI), in collaboration with the Muretain Agglo, the SICOVAL and the Community of Communes of the Greater West of Toulouse, at the scale of 94 municipalities in the Toulouse conurbation. This program benefits from the financial support of the State, the Occitanie Region and the Adour-Garonne Water Agency.
In this context, Toulouse Métropole has just put a new website online in order to understand, be informed and prepare for the risk of flooding in the territory: www.floods-agglo-toulousaine.fr
