The disappointment was strong at the final whistle. So after the feeling of legitimate hot frustration, here are the statistics to remember after this 18th day of Ligue 1, with our partner Opta.
Game Changer 🔥
Wissam Ben Yedder scored his first goal off the bench for AS Monaco this season in Ligue 1. But since arriving on the Rock in August 2018, he has scored 13 goals after coming on in the top flight, at least 7 of more than any other player. A Legend with a capital L ⚽
Captain’ Wiss also struck for the 86th time with the Diagonal on his shoulders. Still fourth top scorer in Club history ahead of Radamel Falcaothe tricolor striker is only three units by Christian Dalger (89).
Unstoppable 🔄
The teammates of the Monegasque number 10 have also found the fault in each of their last 28 matches in Ligue 1 (60 goals scored), i.e. longest running streak in the five major European championships. AS Monaco’s record is 36 games in a row, between September 2016 and August 2017.
I think we’ll assume we deserve to win this game. We had 60% possession, took shots against eight for Lorient and we hit the crossbar three times. It’s not the most important, but it still proves that we dominated.
About the game
IZO’s cake 🌯
Coming into play in the 83rd minute, Ismail Jakobs gave Wissam his seventh assist since his arrival in the Principality. Also at the origin of achievements against Auxerre and Rodez in the Coupe de France, he has therefore just offered his third caviar in four games since the resumption.
When it doesn’t want… ❌
The Red and Whites hit the crossbar three times against Lorient. We have to go back to February 2018 (Bordeaux vs Nice), to see a Ligue 1 team hitting the quantities more often (4 times) without winning the match.
All the time, I say that without the supporters, we are nothing. We would have liked to offer them the three points to thank them for their presence. But we will do everything to make them happy in the next matches, I guarantee it.
About the supporters
The detonator! 🎯
Seven of the eight but registered by Breel’s embolism in Ligue 1 this season have been for AS Monaco’s opener. The club of the Principality having never lost on the meetings where the Swiss scored (5 wins, 3 draws).
It’s getting closer 🤏
Mohammad Camara is the Monaco player with the most shots (13 times) and on target (5) in the top flight this season without having scored yet. Decisive passer for Breel Embolo, he was however decisive on his last 2 outings in L1 (2 assists). The next Mo’!
