Deadly fire in Beauzelle: the Toulouse prosecutor’s office orders the autopsy of the baby who perished in the disaster
An eight-month-old girl died in a fire on January 11. His mother is currently being cared for at Rangueil hospital in Toulouse. Judicial authorities ordered an autopsy of the infant to determine the cause of death.
The emotion does not come down to Beauzelle, a small town in the northwest of Toulouse after the tragic death of an eight-month-old girl. The infant died in a fire in an apartment on the second floor of a recent building, rue de la Rhune, near the Henri-Matisse primary school. His mother, very seriously burned during the disaster, was rushed to Rangueil hospital. According to our information, her state of health remains stable but she is not yet able to be heard by the gendarmes on this tragedy. The accidental track is favored by the authorities. As it systematically does in this type of case, the Toulouse prosecutor’s office ordered an autopsy of the little victim which should take place today. The purpose of these examinations will be, in particular, to determine the causes of the child’s death. Namely, whether she died of burns or asphyxiation.
The tenants of the other two units, a family with three children and a young woman, have been urgently relocated to the hotel and could stay there for a week. These apartments on the ground floor and on the 1st floor of the damaged building are currently habitable due to the evacuation of the water used to put out the fire on the 2nd floor. They remain so for the duration of the safety expertise on the structure of the building, the insurance expertise and the restoration. So it can take several weeks.
