‘Dora 2023.’ will be broadcast live from the Marino Cvetković Sports Hall in the city of Opatija on the evening of Saturday, February 11 (Sunday, February 12 in the morning, Australian time). Viewers will be able to watch the final on HRT1 or the official website of HRT. Five more countries will choose their entry to the Eurovision Song Contest on February 11 through the national finals, in what has been dubbed Eurovision’s ‘Super Saturday’.
Croatia made its Eurovision debut in 1993 after qualifying through the Millstreet Qualification (Millstreet preselection). The nation was previously de facto represented at Eurovision as part of Yugoslavia. 13 of the 26 Yugoslav Eurovision entries were from Croatia, including the only Yugoslav winner ‘Rock Me’ by Riva in 1989. Croatia has yet to win Eurovision as an independent country. Their best result is fourth place, which they won with Maje Blagdan’s ‘Holy Love’ in 1996 and Doris Dragović’s ‘Mary Magdalena’ in 1999.
The Balkan nation last qualified for the grand final in 2017 with Jacques Houdek’s “My Friend”, a six-year run without qualification they hope to end in Liverpool.
