Following the successfully implemented projects Teplo pro Kbely and Teplo pro Praha during the last two years, the merger of the company 4. energetická was completed at the end of last year. Pražská plynárenská thus becomes the main supplier of heat and fundamentally drives the reduction of CO2 emissions in the territory of the capital. m of Prague.
Long-term sustainable and green solutions exist in the Pražská plynárenská concern, which is intensively devoted to them. The company is significantly involved in the implementation of the HMP Climate Plan, the goal of which is to reduce emissions in the heating and energy industry by 60% by 2030 compared to the current state.
Green heat project for Prague
Pražská plynárenská is part of the team that is preparing a large green heat project for Prague. The principle is the use of waste water heat from the Císařský ostrov ÚČOV for heating Prague. The Central Wastewater Treatment Plant (ÚČOV) in Prague-Bubenč will soon become a source of heat for Prague. The planned energy center on Císařský ostrov will almost shut down two gas sources: the Juliska heating plant and the Veleslavín heating plant. Both now for the production of heat and electricity using natural gas.
“This project, of which we are a part, opens up a major transformation of heat sources for Prague into so-called renewable heat sources – RES. Thus, following the example of other European cities such as Vienna, Stockholm, Helsinki, Berlin, Copenhagen and others, Prague is embarking on the path of green energy precisely by using the renewable resources it has available on its territory,” said Petr Heincl, head of the Heating Department in Pražské plynárenské as. “Other projects are being prepared for the use of heat from the water in the Vltava. Today, for example, the building of the National Theater is already heated. Like the mentioned big cities, Prague is also embarking on the path of consolidation and construction of its heating assets through a 100% owned company such as Pražská plynárenská as.
