Drops the case about Odin André Hagen Jacobsen – NRK Trøndelag
– We are of course disappointed, says Odin’s father, Dan Yngve Jacobsen.
Odin André Hagen Jacobsen (18) from Skaun was reported missing by his parents after he did not return home from a city trip in Trondheim in November 2018.
An extensive search was launched for the teenager. The investigation has caught fire this year.
– We had hoped that the state attorney would place more importance on the input we have given to the investigation and would order a new investigation on a number of points. As of today, we do not know what has happened to Odin, says Jacobsen.
– By decision of 11 January 2023, the public prosecutors in Trøndelag have dismissed the case where Odin André Hagen Jacobsen has been missing since 18 November 2018. The case has been dismissed as no criminal offence.
The Trøndelag state attorney’s office writes this in a press release on Wednesday.
He thinks he ended up in the sea
– The police have assumed that Odin is dead. After the state attorney’s review of the extensive investigation material, this is the only logical explanation for Odin not being found. The public prosecutors therefore assume that Odin is no longer alive, they write further in the press release.
They believe that the most likely course of events is that Odin ended up in the sea on the night of 18 November 2018, where he was observed on Brattøra Pier 2.
Can appeal the decision
It appears unlikely that he has traveled to Copenhagen or otherwise voluntarily, says state attorney Kaia Strandjord to NRK. She points out that key items such as a passport, mobile phone and wallet were left at Brattøra Pier 2.
– The fact that there is no sign of life from him during the four years that have passed since his disappearance proves that he is no longer alive.
The case can be appealed to the Attorney General.
– We have to have a round with our supporters and discuss it, says Dan Yngve Jacobsen.
